LGBTQ2+ Youth & Gender-Based Violence Report

Wisdom2Action has launched a first-of-its-kind report on LGBTQ2+ youth and Gender-based Violence, funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. This report highlights the experiences of more than 500 LGBTQ2+ youth across Canada, how they are impacted by Gender-Based Violence, what they want done about it, and their top priorities for action.

Evidence suggests LGBTQ2+ youth are significantly impacted by Gender-Based Violence. 70 percent of trans youth in Canada have experienced sexual harassment. More than one-third of trans youth ages 14-18 have been physically threatened or injured in the past year. 20-40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ2+. While there is growing evidence of the prevalence of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), street harassment and violence against LGBTQ2+ young people, this report is the first of it’s kind that, rather than seeking more evidence on prevalence, connected with LGBTQ2+ youth to determine how they are impacted and what they want done about it.
