In 2023, the world is emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic amidst a global climate emergency, with increasing conflicts and disasters that growingly impact the most marginalized groups.

In 2019 Prime Minister Trudeau announced a 10-year funding commitment to advance the health and rights of women and girls worldwide with a focus on advancing the most neglected areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

By giving adolescents and young women more control over their bodies with full access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), the Future Planning Initiative provides the foundation to realize other rights and plan for their future—to complete education, to pursue employment, to decide whether or when to have a family.

Canada received global praise in 2017 with a bold $650 million three-year investment in women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
