Action Canada is looking for new Board Members!

Do you want to be part of sexual rights advancement? Do you have skills and energy to bring to a vibrant and innovative organization?

We are recruiting for our policy governance board, members who bring a history of expertise in areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights, health care, legislation, and/or non-profit governance. Canadians for Choice, the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health and Action Canada for Population and Development amalgamated 2 years ago to become Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, one strong voice for reproductive and sexual health and rights in Canada and around the world.

For decades, activists and communities across Canada have been advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights. From abortion to marriage equality, we’ve made great strides. When we amalgamated, what we believed was needed was a national voice to hold our governments accountable. Our work builds on the experience and learning from successes and challenges of previous work and is grounded in human rights based approaches. Sexual health and rights are human rights.

Our expertise on Canadian sexual and reproductive health and rights issues is sought increasingly by government officials, grassroots organizations, individuals seeking to access services or information, international governments, media, and other organizations working in related areas. The credibility and reputation of our work is based in solid analysis and expertise with broad collaboration within the sector with a focus on inclusion, representation, anti-oppression, and equity.

Internationally, we are collaborating with organizations in the global north and south, primarily through the United Nations system using human rights mechanisms as an active participant in the Sexual Rights Initiative.

Action Canada has evolved out of years of advocacy for comprehensive sexuality education, abortion rights and access, sexual health information and support, global and domestic policy. Our history is rich, our future is ambitious and necessary. Sexual health and rights are human rights!
