SHORE Centre requires a Patient Intake Worker for our medical abortion clinic, Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. The wage is $17/hr, plus a health benefits package. We are looking for someone who is passionate about women and trans people’s health, autonomy and well-being. You must be compassionate, open-minded, and have a high degree of patience.

Job Summary:

  • Operate a multi-line telephone system
  • Conduct client intake by telephone, including scheduling / confirming client appointments and taking medical histories
  • Arrange appointments for clients and interact with other organizations
  • Oversee the admission of all visitors and deliveries

This position involves Internet, medical booking software, word processing and spreadsheets, and administrative support functions such as secretarial duties, compiling and filing charts, and communicating with health care personnel, clients and external agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Medical Office Assistant course or similar educational experience
  • Volunteer or work experience related to healthcare, social services, or peer counselling
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • A patient and caring manner; ability to thrive in a busy work environment
  • A strong commitment to reproductive justice

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and cross-cultural scenarios
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team atmosphere
  • Attention to detail as well as multi-tasking skills are needed
  • Ability to organize work, to set priorities and to take initiative
