Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights is excited to announce the winners of the 2019 Helen and Fred Bentley Awards of Excellence: SHORE Centre (first place) and Planned Parenthood Newfoundland and Labrador (second place).

We received strong, compelling applications from organizations and groups across the country, but the programs at SHORE Centre and Planned Parenthood Newfoundland and Labrador stood out for their innovation, leadership, and creativity.

SHORE Centre’s Mother-Daughter Health Program features 6- to 8-week workshops on healthy relationships, sexual health, birth control, safer sex, gender, mental health, and many other topics, aimed at building trust and stronger communication between newcomer mothers and daughters

Planned Parenthood Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Health Centre’s OUT In The Woods camp provides LGBTQ2S+ youth with an opportunity to connect and build support networks through a camp program based on harm reduction and trauma-informed learning.

The Helen and Fred Bentley Awards of Excellence recognize sexual health innovation and leadership in communities across Canada.

Action Canada is proud to count SHORE Centre and Planned Parenthood Newfoundland and Labrador among our Associate Organizations. Our Associate Organizations and partners are changemakers in their communities helping shape and mobilize our movement to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.
